Our friend is fine now. Gets around well and has very little side effects. He did ride for awhile after that, he had to use a mounting block to get on.

A mother of one of my sons school friends had it several years ago....she was at Marianjoy paralyzed from the neck down and she is now fine. You would never know that something like that happened to her. I had Bells Palsy a few years ago and half my face was paralyzed...she was one of the first people to approach me and offer an ear if I needed and that's when she told me about it. These neuroligal things with unknown causes are scary. I hope your aunt makes a full recovery!!!

My Aunt has a nephew on her husbands side of the family that had it. He was hospitalized for a while with it. He has since made a full recovery and is doing very well.

I will be sure to keep your Aunt in my thoughts and prayers.

My brother had about 11 years age. Started with the flu and he was basically paralyzed within 2 days. Was in ICU for about 2 weeks and had 2 total blood transfusions, he was really weak. After the hospital he went to a rehab facility, they worked on getting muscle back. He has a little paralysis on the right side of his face, after this long most people don't notice.

The doctors back then said it was possibly brought on by the flu shot. One of the warnings listed when getting a flu shot is "If you have a family member who has had G-B should not get the flu shot". Just FYI,

That being said, he is fine now.
