Let's hear it for the hate of the haters!
I think we all need every once and awhile to reaffirm that there are things that need to be hated; that hatred is the opposite of love, but just as necessary for how are we to know something desireable unless we know it's opposing force? and that sometimes we get way too caught up in rather small, personal things to hate and forget about the bigger picture (aka. it's easy to hate the dumb fat slob who cut in front of you at the Waffle House, but is he/she/it really worthy of such an intense and passionate emotion?)
So (and with regards to the writers I freely paraphrased from and will get around to citing one of these days):

Hatred has fallen on hard times. When questioning the sexual orientation of a horse is considered a hate crime, you know that times are tough. Hate speech, hate crimes, "don't be a hater..." Well, at the risk of being sent before the PC tribunal and then lined up against the multicultural wall to be shot with environmentally sensitive all-natural bullets, I'd like to rant a little bit about hate.
What article in the Constitution forbids an American to hate? Which one of the Ten Commandments says, Thou shalt not hate?
The question is: Are there people or things worth hating?
Let's celebrate diversity in a new way. How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways!

Obnoxious and offensive hate speech lies ahead! For those of tender sensibilities, skip this post!

I hate the fanatics of the Great Islamic Jihad, the ones who brought down the Twin Towers, the ones who behead people on video and kill innocent women and children without compunction. I hate the brutal totalitarian dictatorships that enable the Jihad, the regimes like those in Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Cuba, North Korea, and Zimbabwe. (yep, that means those Hamassholes who are crying "victim" while they use schools as munitions depots, then cry when the Israelis blow them up -- and the freaking press that helps the Hamassholes out).

I hate those barbaric bastards in Muslim societies who terrorize, mutilate, and brutalize women, and do it all with the blessing of their religion. (yes, this means you oh supporters of female circumcision -- don't know about it? read up on it, and realize what some of those strident feminazi dipshits won't say a goddamn thing about).

I hate the fellow-travellers in the West, the dhimmis and the wannabe jihadis, who facilitate the terrorists, who interfere with and pick at and ankle-bite the efforts of our brave soldiers in the war against the Great Jihad. (hello? paging Cindy Sheehan? Code Pink? -- yeah, you folks -- hate ya!)

I hate the fact that our common language has been so debased that words like "gulag" and "holocaust" no longer have any meaning. I hate the fact that we all must dance around what we really want to say, cloaking our intentions with circumlocutions and euphemisms. I hate the fact that objectively considering who our likely killers might be is called "racial profiling". (and we have pussified ourselves into a milquetoast condition with the words "post traumatic stress disorder", "euthanasia", "terminally injured", and "life choice" instead of what they really are, which we apperantly don't have the balls to face up to anymore -- thus making those very things more likely to happen

I hate the feminist bullies who had an attack of the vapors and emasculated the president of Harvard for daring to suggest the existence of genetic differences between men and women. And I hate Larry Summers for being a coward and rolling over for them, instead of telling them where they could stick their "gender equity". (and I double plus hate the same feminist see you next tuesday's for having a screech fit over any mention of male appreciation of the female body as some sort of "rape", while pleasantly ignoring the real thing [see above] or advocating that young girls behave like silly, stupid, self-absorbed, self-seeking, shallow sluts as a way for them to express their "sisterhood" and "empower" themselves, then screamed at men (and other women) who pointed out that quite a lot of our nation's young girls were beginning to be silly, stupid, and shallow, not to mention slutty and above all weak in mind, spirit, and body)

I hate the leftist pedagogues in our schools and universities who teach our impressionable young that America is a bad place, run by racist, sexist, and homophobic bigots. I hate the peddlers of discredited ideologies who infiltrate our culture at every level. (Al Gore? Where are ya Al? Peter Singer?)

I hate the Jesus Hucksters, who claim to serve God but really serve Mammon, the ones who give Christianity a bad name. I hate the broad-based evangelical belief that prosperity is evidence of God's favor.

I hate the anti-Semites, both here and abroad, the folks who respect Hitler and want to finish his work. (lady in Ft. Lauderdale, if I were a hater I'd say you belong as toast).

I hate people who wear Che Guevara T-shirts. (in fact, I hate most tees coming out of Rolling Stone anymore --and I don't really care for Rolling Stone either)

I hate the fact that Government works its tendrils into every part of my life, so that I can't build a house, flush a toilet, or even buy a bag of Doritos without the government meddling. I hate the fact that our government, made up of our elected servants here in the land of the free and home of the brave, puts harmless pot-smokers in jail. (but wants those terrorists mentioned above to have the full rights of a citizen at trial)

I hate the race hustlers, the poverty pimps, the TV talking head know-it-alls, and the shameless, voracious lawyers who have eaten away the vital parts of our civic body. I hate the cynical conmen who make their living off the stupid and the addled and the aged and the young. (we're America, damnit, we aren't better than anyone else, we are everyone else -- and that's what makes us great...when we come together as Americans, not some weird hyphenated sheep wantin' our victimhood for being some special K ass type hyphenated something or other -- united we stand divided we fall y'all, and if some people just can't stomach that, then they should get the hell out...really)

I hate multicultralism, exceptionalism, political correctness and all the other methods by which we make ourselves into little pandering, hypocritical bleeding hear naifs. I hate psuedo- science, psuedo-ethics, psuedo-pacifism, and psuedo-liberalism (and yes, psuedo-conservatism and armchair war hawks too). Because these are the ways we going about deluding ourselves about the rotten, nasty truth so we don't have to deal with it -- and become a bunch of pussy ass chump mofos.

And above all I hate socialists of all kinds - Fascists, Nazis, Communists, Fabians, Greens, you name it - because they made all the rest of this mess possible by poisoning the well of our political discourse so that their degraded ideology has leached into the soil of the larger culture. I hate the fact that their smug, self-righteous zeal has undermined and threatened the very existence of Western civilization.

*oh, and PETA, I HATE THEM AND ALL WHO SUPPORT AND/OR COLLUDE WITH THEM; you are no friends to animals; you are their enemies; animal haters if you will

And I'll close with a quote from Bob Dylan: Don't hate nothing at all except hatred. (see the above for list of prime haters of the hatred-ey sort, thus hated with the white hot flame of a thousand hateful suns by me).

What say you? Do I have any more suggestions on "what is good to hate" from the audience?
Do I have an audience, or was this post a bit too hateful?

I used to be fairly happy and opptimistic.
The older I get the bitchier and more pessimistic I become.
I have become extremely jaded as I've aged.
    It's not a trait I'm proud of.

I don't like when every time I get cut off in traffic, stuck in the line from hell at WalMart, or have to wait 20 minutes to get a gas pump I mutter "F-ing Mexicans"... Unfortunately, living in the SWest and so close to the border has really made me more prejudiced of them than I ever used to be. I think making it all the way to the midwest is a "culling" process - the quickie border-jmpers down here are an overall unsavory lot.

Same here. I used to be a moody, miserable, hateful, misanthropic bitch that wished death upon anyone and everyone. I was always depressed, sometimes suicidal. I made decisions that were stupid and could have gotten me killed--and did I care? Not really.

Then I realized that hatred took up a lot of energy and decided to focus on the more positive things. This didn't happen overnight, but it happened.

Nowadays if I dislike something then I simply cut it out of my life or ignore it...people included. If it's something that affects everyone--like terrorism or the economy--then I sit and watch and offer support towards those affected when I can. Hating al-Quada won't get ya anywhere. I'm all for seeking them out and destroying them, yes, but without being blinded by hate (which, in the end, won't help you find and destroy these people).

If you want to hate then that is fine, just don't let it get out of control or consume you. (I'm not talking to you specifically, jenm, but to the general population)

Al-Quada is a perfect example of hate gone haywire.

My hate has progressed since I started working at a high school as the registrar, and day by day, seeing minority kids(2 basic groups) with shitty grades and a record in the deans office a mile long, get preferencial treatment, because their parents threaten racism, therefore, taking scholarships, etc, away from committed students (of all races, by the way) who stay out of trouble and are 100% focused on their grades. The crappy students get the better treatment every time. "Squeaky wheel gets the grease" Pisses me off to no end, the abuse that I have been told to take from these parents.

When did we become a world where we are teaching our kids not to WORK for what they want, just bitch loud enough, and threaten the right people and everyone will bow down and let you walk all over them.

Sorry, particularly BAD day at work.....

I think he's just using that as an excuse to, sometime in his lifetime, reside in AK. It's his favorite place on earth. When we were dating, he spent a summer up there, and has talked about it for the last 17 years. I think he would do just about anything to move the family up there.

Im a hater of the people who no longer think individuals should be responsible for themselves.

For example, I go as far as believing you go to work and get paid and you are responsible for saving for your own retirement and paying your own healthcare.

You are responsible if you fall and break your arm at your friends house

You have the RIGHT to pursue life, liberty and freedom, not to be given it

You have the RIGHT to look for and hold a job, not to be given money from the gov't

You have the RESPONSIBILITY to USE BIRTH CONTROL and not be whining that your kids cost too much money, or you cant buy "x" because you CHOSE not to have protected sex. Can you believe they figured out what causes pregnancy! ::)

A cell phone, Cable TV, computer, and Nikes are NOT A RIGHT, they are a luxury.

People are smarter and dumber ;) and their job positions/ income/ outcomes in life should reflect such.

Im am a hater. Just look at my title.

 I want to know that now that we have an african-american president if there is still oppression and racism to the extent that we need programs specifically for minorities???

Also, on the same topic. I tried to get a scholorship through my school but since I come from middle class (even though my parents DID NOT pay for my college), and becuasse I am WHITE, I was only eligable for a tiny handful of the scholorships, and they were only for small amounts of money, or not for the degree I was seeking. If I were black, even middle class I would have been eligable for four good scholorships.

I actually won a scholorship once but was denied when they found out I was white.

Good question Shannon. STILL I'm sure with some it will boil down to if you feel this way you are a racist....

I was called a "stupid c**t" today, by a parent, with an assistant principal standing 2 feet from me, and I had to apologize, because I told her that I coudn't/wouldn't break policy and take something off of her transcript that mom didn't want the college to see. WTF?????
