OK, I'm going with a couple of coworkers up to Naperville. We're in Champaign, so straight up I-57 and it Google maps says it will take us 2.5 hours. We can leave anytime we want, I thought we'd leave around 2 to get there around 4:30 and we should stay pretty clear of traffic, right?

Now... my parents think Rt 47 is the way to go. That feels SOOO slow. Googlle maps says that will take like 4 hours! LOL.

What way do you think I should go?

Did it send you up 57 to 80 west to 355 north to 88 west? That in my opinion, would be the way to go.

Oops. I meant to add that 80 west between LaGrange Road (rt 45) and Joliet, as well as 355 north of Lemont, and pretty much all of 88, can get pretty backed up starting around 4:00. I'd allow a little extra time.

57 to 80W to 355N to US-34... We're going to the corner of Mill & Ogden Rds in Naperville.

Ditto. Sometime they start as eraly as 3:30 ::)

Have fun, you'll be in my neck of the woods ;D.
If you guys want an awesome dinner, go to Luigi's Italian Restarant, on Rt. 59, just south of 34.

That's a VERY busy, populated area you are going to and it's during the start of rush hour for Chicago. (I'm very familiar with traveling that area, it used to be my district when I worked at another bank.) Allow LOTS of extra time. I'd leave closer to 1 if I were you.

Hmm... we went to some Italian restuarant last year. This year we're taking a boy, and there is an Illini game at 6, so I hinted we might try to find him a brew pub where he could watch the game.

I am trip mom... I've worked here for longer, done more of these trips, and I'm older than both by about 5 years. Heh. Plus the guy in charge of the cars always gives me the keys cause he's seen me drive a dually so he knows I can handle the dorkmobile company van. :D

The other thing is... we can leave work whenever we want, and arrive anytime between 4 and 8 pm. The key is to miss enough just enough time in the office. Do you think it would be better to come up 47? Or even 55?

Mapquest always give me 4+ hours to get to Woodstock going 47 but it actually only takes 3 1/2, a little less if the roads are good and idiot free. I'm a little closer to 47 than you though. I LOVE 47 but then again I hate interstate.

You could come up 55 and exit Weber Rd. Take that all the way to Washington. Take a left on Washington and that will take you to Ogden.
Personally I'd take the first route, 57, etc. There's so much traffic once you get off 55 if you go that way. I wouldn't take 47 it would take you forever.

Yeah, it's Naperville North! Wait... do you work for THAT district? We're doing a little Dupage County PE Institute put on by Phil Lawler's buddies I think.

OK, regarding traffic, my choices are: sitting in my office, or sitting in traffic in a van. I will totally take sitting in the van over sitting in my office and be thrilled about it. :D

How about taking 24 up to Dwight, and then hopping on I-55? You'd avoid all the non-sense around I-57/I-80 area (which I commute everyday)

No I work for the "other" district! :nana:

I wish I worked for 203. They are land locked so no new subdivisions or new schools needed. They have money - we are poor!

We have built 2 new schools last year and I think 2 "preschools". We are in the process of building a new High school, converting a freshman center over to a new Middle school (what we are doing with those kids I have no clue) and I think we need another Elementary school!

We don't have enough vehicles for our Grounds and Maintenance men to use, to get them and their equipment to the sites that they need to work at in a given day!

Feel sorry for this poor 204 employee yet? ::)

47 seems a little out of your way, for where you're going. I'd take 57.

Tbitt - My kid is in District 204 - where the heck do you live that you're working in Naperville? (I live in Naperville ie: yuppyscumville- - south side - LOL)

If you take 57 North - don't go to weber road - pain in the ass...

    When I go downstate - I take I-55 to Rt47 to I74 to I 57 -

So, coming upstate - take I57 North, to I74 West to Rt 47 - stay on 47 to I-55 (in the Dwight area) - Take 55 North to Rt 59 - Exit Rt 59 - and stay on it till you hit ??? where are you staying -

You won't hit much traffic at all (rush hour type traffic) going this way - and plus the direction you're coming from is not the direction flow of rush hour anyway... Even exiting on Rt59 shouldn't be bad at all - because you're going against the flow -

Going this way you'll still be about 2.5 hours - (I actually time things when I travel like that to see if I can beat my previous times - LOL) - -

I had Paige come this way when she came up for the Morris sale a couple of years ago - not a bad trip -

LOL, I should have asked about flooding! After going to the HS we left there at 6:30 to go to the Foundary to watch the rest of the Illini game. Then back to our hotel... cars stalled out everywhere. :D I had the new guy driving the van after dinner and I was laughing my ass off watching him freak out about which puddles were safe to go through. I was no help at all.
