It's coming up quick! DeLand, IL. Right on Route 10 between Champaign and Clinton.

Saturday November 1st! Anytime from 4pm on. We always go late into the night (early into the morning ;D ).

Huge bonfire. Lots of goodies on the smoker plus we fry a ton of fresh caught fish. As always, people are welcome to bring a dish, but certainly not required as we always have enough to feed an Army :) Normally eat around 6ish, but food always lasts well into the night!

We'll have a keg of beer, but you are welcome to bring any drinks you like for yourself (or to share ;D ) I always have the blenders lined up for for people to use for fru fru drinks :)

Tents and campers welcome! If you bring a camper it's best to come early though unless you want to camp out on the road :D There is also the Best Western about 10 miles away in Monticello and Champaign/Decatur/Clinton are all about 20 miles away. Anyone is also welcome to a spot on a couch or floor for the night :)

Spouses, kids, everyone is welcome. We always have a good chunk of horsie people there, but there will be a fair amount of hunters, fishermen, tradesmen and such to keep non horsie hubbies busy so bring them along too.

Really the only thing you need to bring besides yourself is a chair :)

Hope to see a bunch of you here!

That's a Great idea, for those of us that live quite a distance in the opposite direction. Weekend getaway with Buc's party as the main attraction destination!

edit in: does that make sense? attraction destination?
After yesterday having my sinuses burn all day and evening with a headache that felt like I bumped my head and my skull was cracked and the pain went down into my neck, along with shifting other headaches on the same side of my head. NOW I'm out of smokes. My head feels weird. Yesterday only smoked 4, and had my last one 3 hours ago. I think I'm jones'n.

Allerton Park is close by and has some really neat stuff. It's like 15 minutes from here. Also if your looking for overnight accommodations and don't want to sleep in my back yard in a tent the Best Western is in Monticello and even closer :)

Other events/things to do in the area:

Central States Rodeo Finals and trade show held at Gordyville (Gifford, IL): http://centralstatesrodeo.com/
    Actually, here's a better link: http://gordyvilleusa.com/pdf/csr_logo.pdf

BUC, does the Clinton Power Plant have tours or open hours?

Curtis Orchard, yawn but yummy... forget the apples, look for the donuts and apple butter. http://www.curtisorchard.com/

    Spurlock Museum in Urbana: http://www.spurlock.uiuc.edu/info/index.html
    Krannert Art Museum: http://www.kam.uiuc.edu/

Allerton Park link: http://www.continuinged.uiuc.edu/oce-sites/allerton/Visiting-the-Park.cfm Formal gardens, trails through woods, with the added surprise of coming upon special areas or sculptures every so often, it's fascinating. My daughter has loved this since she first went when she was about 5 or so, so not a bad thing to do with the kids--as long as they are not crazy obnoxious it's a place where you can kinda let them run off some steam, and there are definitely areas where you're so distant from others that they can be totally obnoxious.

Champaign-Urbana calendar - lots of U of I sports and of course usual live music and what not.

Actually, I'm thinking about going to go see the movie "The White Mane" at the Art Theater. It's a horsey movie!
    Schedule but no descrip: http://the217.com/events/view/2008/11/01/6425

I'll come back with more if I can think of stuff.

This would be good for both ages:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orpheum_Children's_Science_Museum

The movies--the White Mane and the Red Balloon might be interesting for both. Unconventional, but interesting.

I asked my daughter, she also mentioned the ice arena and the local skating rink. I don't know if you need to travel for that kind of entertainment. :D Let me know if you need web sites for those... Skateland in Savoy, U of I Ice Arena in Urbana.

I'm local sooo if you need any more entertainment ideas let me know and I'll try to find stuff. :p I'll try to think of more kid friendly ideas.

That's okay, I'm a hell of a lot closer and I can't go. :( I will be running around dressed as a cat instead.

We do have a large dog pen....40x50 I believe. If your poochies get along well with others they are welcome. We do live on a busy, busy road, so running loose should not be an option.

Sure Kelly, bring Doodle....I haven't got to beat him in a looong time >:D

I'm bringing both of the evil little bastards - I mean darling doggies. I don't really have a choice. My usual dog sitter is having hip replacement surgery this coming Monday. So I guess it's love me, love my mutts.

hahahahahahaha he should have gotten a hotel room if he wanted nookie... apparently he didn't think that far ahead. The fruit was GOOD. I should have had another cupful before I left. My hangover was a bit disappointing... not like the time I drank half a bottle of yukon jack over the course of a few hours. ;D Thanks BUC for the new vice.

Seb said he'd go next year too. LOL Maybe next year we'll leave at a decent hour and get there for a bit of daylight.
