I have the possibility of bringing home some cedar siding that was on a house. It is beautiful and my thoughts are to use it on a lean to.

Is cedar something that horses will chew on?

Is cedar considered dangerous for horses?

It's pretty splintery is the only downfall I see if you do get one that takes to chewing, but I really have no idea if there poisonous. I have 7-8 trees in our lot and had a tree chewer from hell when we first moved here. She killed ALL the trees except the big cedar. She never even touched it. One of the water troughs used to be under it and the horses would not drink out of it, so I'm thinking there is something about cedar that just isn't attractive to them.

Cedar is safe-- I've never seen them chew on the fence boards that I used for one small section in a pen.
