OK, since I CANNOT make up my mind on a damn pad for my horse, I figured YOU guys could make it FOR me! :-* Afterall, you guys did so well with the boot thread! ;D These are the pads listed above in the same order... http://www.profchoice.com/htmldocs/prd/western/prd/arsp.html http://www.horse.com/Ride-n-Lite-Orthopedic-Saddle-Pad-WIR29.html?scode=hfroogle http://www.rockinmtack.com/Felt-Contour-Impact-Gel-Saddle-Pads-p/gelc2f30.htm These are my 3 favorites... SO far
I like how the middle one not only has the high wither cut out and contour, but it has the additional "along the back" padding.
None of the above. Classic Equine Counterpedic Felt top/Foam bottom. Trust a sista!! ;D http://www.classicequine.com/en/_HS/ProductDetails.aspx?C=Barrel Racing&PC=302&P=139
http://www.horse.com/Reinsman-Roper-Delight-Saddle-Pad-WIR21.html I really like my pad like this, I have a high withered horse and it fits him really nice, but I also have a smaller horse that it works well with also.
Gotta go with this one - or any other brands just like it (five star, sloan, ed wright, marlene eddleman, etc.) that are 100% wool felt with the wither cut out.
I agree with the felt pads. I worry about gel pads, especially the ones where you can't replace the inserts, since the gel degrades after a while and can then make it uncomfortable for the horse. The second one scares me because they are advertising that the pad DOES NOT absorb wetness. The Prof Choice one bothers me with that strap over the withers. Looks like you could end up with some rubbing. I would go for one with a cutback or with a contoured wither area. Good luck with your pad search!
That Reinsman is the one that I've been thinking about for Jack. I can't find a good cut out that I like. Since we'r both looking for saddles for high withers, let me know if you find one, and vice-versa.
