Zoiya goes in to the doggy doctor this am. Last night she was laying around, kind of listless, nose is warm and dry (her's is always wet and cold), and she developed 2 swellings on either side of her face. At first I thought they were from teeth comming in. But after feeling up in her mouth, it isn't teeth. Some kind of glands (I'm guessing) are swelling in her face, she's sneezing and breathing rough (she sounds snotty / stuffy) and she keeps making a sound like she's trying to clear her throat (but it's not really a cough)... Temp. is normal though. Anyhoo... poor little girly is not happy so keith stayed home today to take her in.
*sigh* Yes, this is her second trip (not including her initial check up). First was a bad reaction to the sutures the original vet used onher spay. Now this.
Poor girl, sending fast mending vibes her way. I will go dig out my nurses uniform if it's required for upcoming visits. Bless her little heart.
Nurse BUC. There's an image! She's such a sweet sweet dog. I love her SO much. I feel terrible that she feels like crap, I can't fix it and that I can't be there to take her in.
Well, any response I had when I started this post was blown away by the thought of whatever nurse's outfit BUC has in hiding... Now... is this a nice pair of modest scrubs, or are we talking, NURSE'S OUTFIT? Poor little Zoiya--hope it's just some silly puppy thing.
Dr. expressed the 2 lumps on her face and found another up under her jaw line. She's testing the "stuff" that came out now. She's never seen anything like the ones on the face before. **getting text updates from Keith**!
Well, so she has 3 lumps. 2 on face. 1 under jaw. all 3 expressed with matter tested inhouse. Dr. saw nothing identifiable (whatever the fuck that means), so she's sending it out to the lab for more indepth testing. Gave puppster a shot of steroids and told keith to give her benedryl a couple times a day. Results should be in Monday. She has NO idea what they are or could be. $194 later i have no answers.
:'( I sure hope it isn't serious................but it really would be nice for the Dr. to figure it out! Good Luck!
Curious what lab tests they ran in-house? Because they gave benadryl and steroids, rather than antibiotics, does that mean they're leaning towards an allergic reaction, rather than an infection? I'm surprised they didn't start her on an antibiotic anyway... They sent out for a culture? This normally is run for minimum 48 hours, so although you don't have answers yet, some things you just have to wait.
ET I am really suprised they did not begin a broad spectrum antibiotic ??? I would question that and ask what they are looking for?
