Talking about "homemade" gifts.. I have to show this... And brag a bit about my Mom... Just have to show this picture of what my Mom made for Bree. She literally made this 3 times switching fabrics out and such in order to get it to look more like Bree's mare, Tess. It is just awesome. This is one 'discipline' of crafting that I do not do (well, a little bit - as in quilts - but, nothing absolutely nothing like this). I am in such awe of her (Mom is 76). This is all done by cutting out little pieces of fabric with the shapes and piecing them together and then sewing them together and layering and such to get the 3D effect. After that, the inner border is added, then the outer border then the backing and the lining fabric. Once that is all put together you have to quilt it (thankfully she does this by doing free motion quilting on her machine and not by hand). It took her over a year to get it 'right' in her mind!

Re: Talking about "homemade" gifts.. I have to show this... What a great looking quilt. Maybe you should enter it in some of the quilt shows My aunt quilts and puts her work up in shows. She won 2500.00, at one show for her "Cinderella" quilt, and several more hundreds at other shows.
Re: Talking about "homemade" gifts.. I have to show this... Mom has entered quilting and needlepoint shows. She's done well. She's pretty close (geographically) to the biggest annual quilt show in Paducah, KY. Both her and I have won ribbons at National ANG's (amer. needlepoint guild) conventions.
Re: Talking about "homemade" gifts.. I have to show this... My aunt makes a point of going to this one every year, but last year her health was starting to go down and she wasn't able to enjoy it as well. My cousin said she will try to get her there again this year.
Re: Talking about "homemade" gifts.. I have to show this... did she make the pattern or find it somewhere?
Re: Talking about "homemade" gifts.. I have to show this... It is a pattern. I can't remember the gal's name - I'll email Mom and ask. We purchased the pattern at Pieceful Hearts Quilt store in Lisle.
