I've got a new horse in training and so far he is FABULOUS. He raced for 2 years but has the quietest brain. He's still kind of stiff in his neck, but he walks, trots, canters on the buckle. Trotted through poles without hitting them once the first time through. Will trot over 1' cavellettis.... and today I discovered he does lead changes, lol. I was just fooling around and sure enough, left to right and right to left. I'm just amazed that I've only been riding this ex-racehorse for 3 weeks and he's this balanced and calm.
He's only 2 months or so off the track. He is very very plain, he does not scream flashy, except when he moves. He has your very typical hunter style. His butt end is built slightly funky. Not way off, but his hip is a bit more level then I would care for, but as long as he stays sound, beauty is as beauty does. I'll get some pictures of him as soon as this snowstorm passes Hopefully I'll be able to even make it out tomorrow. Please no ice tonight!
